Curator: Dr. Susan K. Hewitt, Ed.D.
Susan has had a diverse and accomplished career. Presently, she serves on two nonprofit boards and provides coaching to individuals in ministry. Notably, she founded the nonprofit UpWorks in 2011 and held the position of Executive Director until July 2019. UpWorks was dedicated to training and connecting Christian volunteers with individuals transitioning from addiction and incarceration to employment, a role that brought her great fulfillment as she witnessed the transformation of those who had faced significant life challenges.
In 1983, Susan graduated from St. Cloud State with a major in computer science and a minor in accounting. Following several years in the computer systems development field, she answered a higher calling in 1998 to enter full-time ministry. To enhance her qualifications in this field, Susan completed a Master of Arts in Christian Outreach from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota in June 2006. In April 2020, she achieved a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Christian Ministry.
Susan has been happily married to her husband, Brad, for almost forty years. They live in Telluride, Colorado and enjoy outdoor activities such as snow skiing, hiking, golfing, and biking. They are the proud parents to two grown children Matthew and Melissa. Matthew is married to Jillian. They have a son named Paxton and live outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Melissa is married to Charles Westphal, and they live outside of Boise, Idaho.
